    My arrival

        Long Trip + totally new enviornment is a big chanllenge. But finally I've overcomed it and got into my apt smoothly. I just felt so tired in the first two days. But I'm lucky that I got so nice guys like P Liu and Justin. Mr Liu picked me up on the airport and we got to campus by airport shuttle bus costing 30$. When I reach the apartment, I found everything is ready in the living room and an air mattress in my room. Justin is so nice that he make me feel like home. He take me just roll in the westside to buy a lot of stuffs. Both of us get very tired-- well I got over tired. I just kept awake for more that 24 hours.
        However, it's a tedious process to check in also. I have to go across the campus again and again! The check in procedure is still in progress.

    君子也要下厨了……

    虽说古代的大学生博士教授们都奉行“君子远庖厨”这一基本生活准则,我如今却没办法遵从孔夫子的教导了。今天趁天气凉快,挽起袖子上厨房炒菜。在老妈的监督指导下,我定要把毕生所学(也就这两个月所学的)全部发挥好,炒出两盘好菜来。
     
     煎鳜鱼:我们江南水乡特有的名菜,鳜鱼谐音“贵”鱼,呵呵,不但很好吃,而且没有刺!做法如下:先把鱼身上批几刀,然后放到油锅里煎到两边金黄,加水开始煮。此时加生姜,盐。到7分熟时加大蒜,辣椒,酱油,少量味精。最后把水煮到差不多干,肥美鲜嫩的鳜鱼就上桌了。HOHO
     
    辣椒炒肉:实际上就是大家在餐馆里经常点的“农家小炒肉”吧,从小吃这个长大的…… 把肉切成小丁,混合豆豉放到油里爆到没有红色为止,然后加辣椒下去炒,最后稍微加点盐——最佳下饭佳肴就可以出锅了。

    C-C coupling by Cr(III) reagents and its application in total synthesis

     
    利用organochromium试剂可以在合成guanacastepene时构造一个关键的七元环, 该反应又称为"Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi" reaction. 关于此反应, 有关信息摘抄如下 (节选自Chem. Rev. 1999, 99, 991 -1046)
     
    Cr(II) readily inserts into allyl-, alkenyl-, alkynyl-, propargyl-, and aryl halides or sulfonates under aprotic conditions to give organochromium salts which are well behaved nucleophiles for selective organic transformations. Traces of nickel salts exert a catalytic effect on the formation of the C-Cr(III) bond. Following scheme is the mechanism of the coupling.
     
     
     
    As will become evident in more detail from the present review, Cr(II) or Cr(II)/Ni(II)-mediated reactions of this type are distinguished by a rather unique combination of chemical features. Most notable among them are (i) the broad range of substrates amenable to insertion of Cr(II) under mild conditions, accounting for the remarkably wide scope of this methodology; (ii) the pronounced chemoselectivity of organochromium intermediates for reactions with aldehydes as the electrophilic reaction partners; (iii) the strong driving force for such additions, which stems from the formation of highly stable O-Cr(III) bonds. This chemical incentive can be exploited to build up strain in the organic products; (iv) a superb compatibility with an array of different functional groups in both reaction partners, allowing to maintain various electrophilic groups intact within the organochromium nucleophiles; (v) a low basicity of organochromium(III) reagents; (vi) distinct stereochemical preferences, particularly in reactions of crotylchromium reagents; (vii) a simple setup and an excellent reliability even if applied to sensitive and polyfunctional compounds.
     
    One of the highlights in organochromium chemistry is Kishi's seminal work on the total synthesis of palytoxin. This monumental endeavor not only illustrates the applicability of NHK reactions to target compounds of utmost complexity, but also led to fundamental insights into the basics of organochromium chemistry in general.     扳着指头数日子

     还有十来天就要飞了, 可以说是开始数日子过啦。而一些出行之前该做的准备也要提上日程了。作为一个典型的心理懒惰型,我昨天居然打了好几个电话,叫了还在鄱阳的为数不多的几个同学好好玩了一顿。虽然饭桌上只稀稀拉拉坐了7个人(还包括我弟),可大家在一起在一起还是那么率真无拘束。想必这种感觉以后很长一段时间都不会有了吧。
    最近在网上与不少飞友聊时都感觉到那种临行前的伤感和惆怅。我还以一个神经粗大者的角度劝解了那些敏感的女生们,可是当自己也要离开的时候,就算神经再粗,恐怕也是避免不了要敏感一把……
